Thanks for volunteering your time to coach for Kingston Lightning!

Among these tabs you will find basic curriculums to help your players reach the next level of their training.  

The most important thing to remember is to have fun and encourage the players to have fun and make the most of their experience here at KYSA.

Guidelines For Any Level

  • Keep practices and matches fun.
  • Make sure every player has a ball for practice.
  • Maximize touches on the ball.
  • Avoid lines.
  • Minimize lectures.  (Less is more keep it to around 10 seconds)
  • Play a lot of small sided games.
  • Concentrate on improving a player's individual skills.
  • Get parents involved.  Explain to them what you are trying to do.
  • Keep things moving quickly.
  • Do the same warm ups every practice.
  • Encourage 15 minutes of practice a day at home.
  • Before practice have some sort of drill. (See Resources tab)
  • Do toe taps, sole taps every practice.
  • Push pull, pull push.
  • Have players dribble around a cone.
